Turn Point maps of our areas
Turn Point maps & about GPS
In the right-hand column you'll find the Turn Point maps of the three regions that we operate in. The numbers on the maps are the names of the individual Turn Points we use for our tasks/routes.
Pilots on any of our XC courses may find it helpful to use a GPS but it is not essential. You'll be given a map in an A3 hi-def version in the welcome pack when you arrive.
However if you do bring a GPS please try to get used to it on your local sites at home. I personally like using one as it gives me important information such as speed over ground, wind direction/strength, or distance to next way point/goal, If set up correctly the GPS will even tell me how high I have to climb and glide needed to make it safely home.
Don't worry if you don't have one, many pilots choose not to. I believe that if you're not used to a GPS it will actually just be a distraction.
However if you decide to bring one we can give you an upload of the way points at the first briefing, which saves programming them in manually (there are nearly 100 Bassano ones alone.) So please So please DON'T forget your cable.
If you have any questions to do with GPS, please send us an email on the contact page.
